If your tractor engine catches on fire, you should take immediate action.
Shut off the engine quickly to cut off the fuel supply and air intake.
Grab the fire extinguisher and get away from the tractor. Do not attempt to retrieve the extinguisher if the fire is already out of control.
If the fire is small and contained, and you can safely approach, use the extinguisher's hose to spray at the base of the flames from a distance. Aim for the source of the fire, not the flames themselves.
Continue blanketing the fire source with the extinguishing agent to cool it down and prevent re-ignition.
Call emergency services immediately, even if you think you've extinguished the fire. Tractor fires can re-ignite quickly.
Never try to move the tractor if it's on fire. Get yourself to a safe distance away.
After the fire is completely out, have the tractor inspected by a professional to identify and correct the cause before operating it again.
Carrying a properly maintained fire extinguisher on the tractor and being prepared to act swiftly are both crucial for operator safety and minimizing damage if a tractor engine fire occurs.
