Out of the Box Ways to Make Extra Money with Your Ranch

We want to help you understand how to make extra money from your ranch.

And as a quick aside --- we are here to help you purchase a new tractor when the time is right.

Let’s get to it.

Opportunity

If you have the extra acreage --- take advantage of it.

Turn your extra land into big money.

You can literally build multiple sources of income and pocket a lot of money by using some of these little-known, out of the box ideas.

Let’s get started.

Garden Plots

A great way to earn extra money, while meeting many people in the community is to rent plots for gardens.

More and more American households are growing their own food.

There are many reasons for this including the use of pesticides and chemicals, abusive preservatives, rising food costs, and the popularity of organic foods.

Regardless of the reason, people are planting their own gardens. Many people need the space.

You can rent plots of land to people. They will plant and tend to the garden or you can charge for the service.

This income stream would require very little work on your part and provide a steady monthly income.

Board Horses

Many people love and want horses.

Very few people have enough space to own them.

This means many people need to board horses. If you have the space and facilities, then this is a great way to earn a steady income.

You can offer full boarding services. This means taking care of the horses yourself. Or you can simply offer the facilities and the owners are responsible for taking care of them.

The options are endless for making money.

Growing Food

You can also raise and sell your own food.

Fruits and vegetables sell like crazy at the local farmer's market.

Growing food takes a bit of work. If you enjoy gardening, it is a fun way to earn extra income.

You could also offer a U-pick option to the community. Plant a field of blueberries, strawberries, or another popular fruit or vegetable and let people come by and pick their own.

People love fresh produce and it's a fun activity they can do with their kids.

Community Spacing

Another income source is to create spaces that the community can take advantage of.

You could setup a dog park. Build a family playground. Group some animals and setup a petting zoo!

The options are endless.

Raise Goats

Goats are an excellent investment.

They don't require too much work and you can use them for several purposes.

Goats can be an attraction in your petting zoo. You can use or sell their milk. Their milk is also great for making and selling lotions, cheese, and soap.

Many people are lactose intolerant. Goat's milk and cheese are the perfect alternatives.

Goats are also great for landscaping. They will chow down on your lawn. This means you do not have to use a mower.

You can even sell their manure as it makes an excellent fertilizer.

Hunting / Fishing Access

This is a great income option.

Just a few considerations. Your ranch needs to be large enough. It needs to be suited for this. And it also needs to be legal to do in your area.

You can choose to sell a simple access permit to hunters or fisherman.

Or to earn more money, you can offer guided services to the best spots on your property.

Events

Many ranchers organize small and large events on their land.

Some rent it to others that are looking for event space. The possibilities are endless.

Events include (but are not limited to) parties, weddings, corn mazes, holiday displays, pumpkin patches, exercise classes, wellness group gatherings, petting zoos, and more.

You can offer a wide array of services as part of staging the event. All of these will help make you extra money.

Raise Livestock

This income stream is a bit more traditional, but we had to include it here for the potential new ranchers and farmers that are reading this.

You can buy, raise, and sell cows, pigs, chickens, honeybees, and more for fun and lots of profit.

Outdoor Movie Theater

This one is a favorite.

You can make money and do something fun for (and with) the community.

There are a few pieces of equipment you will need to buy. You need seating unless people opt to sit on their own blankets. Some may want to sit in their cars if you can accommodate that. You’ll also want a good projector, screen, and electrical hook up. And do not forget bathroom access.

Hopefully, this brief article has helped you understand how to make extra money from your ranch.
